until the end of time? The Pro-lifers answers to abortion... 1) Adoption - Yeah, sure, as long as the child is a white female baby under the age of three. Those are the babies that people stand on line for. Then the white male babies under the age of three. Just make sure you aren't an HIV positive, black male teen. 2) Abstinence - Not a solution to the problem, more like scolding someone for leaving the barn door open. 3) Hmmm... guess that's about it. Yeah, 3rd trimester abortions are dicey. Yeah, people should wear condoms. Yeah, people should wait until marriage. Yeah, people should fight off rapists. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Woulda, shoulda, coulda. HOW DO YOU SOLVE THE PROBLEM PRO-LIFERS??? Until you have a real, practical, logical, sensible, acceptable solution to overpopulation, unwanted babies, and human stupidity, forcing every pregnancy to come to term is tantamount to creating life for the sole purpose of experiencing misery. Use your freaking melons for Pete's sake. Abortion is necessary. Unless, of course you're all willing to take in EACH AND EVERY ONE of these babies in, feed them, clothe them, shelter them, educate them, and LOVE THEM, in the same fashion as you'd love your own children. You aren't? OH, then take a big spoonful of S-T-F-U! (And that goes for your god, too.) moreResolved Question: Can anyone find any logical fallacies in these articles?

I know this might be a bit of a dicey question to ask with all the saftey regulations now but I'm so fed up with it i can't take it any more! Every time there is the slightest tap on the backwards peddle the mower shuts off. This makes it extremely annoying for tight corners and turns. Plus every time it shuts off, i have to turn it back on again which is hard on the motor. I try to not get into situations were i have to backup, but sometimes i have to. I know I've asked YA about this general topic a year ago, but this situation has kinda escalated into something potentially serious. So this girl and I met online all the way back in December. We had been texting/talking/IMing each other ever since, and we finally meet in person in March. We had started to like each other throughout us calling each other and when we did meet, and she offered to take me home from college for spring break (she's more or less an hour away from where I live, and I was in college which is about four hours from my house, three hours from her). We get to my house, and we're greeted by my mom and the rest of my family. But at this point, we only appear as just friends and nothing more. We continue to talk/text/IM to each other for the rest of the school year, and we've been able to meet each other twice more during the summer. But here's where it gets dicey. First off, and the main reason why I'm asking this, is that I'm black, and she's white. My mom has told me before that she does not want me to date anyone outside of my race (esp. white females, and that in itself is a long story), not so much out of hate, but out of racial self-pride. Personally, race doesn't matter to me (and it doesn't to her either), but my support group is limited, seeing that I don't know how anyone else in my family (brothers, sisters) would feel if they knew that I was dating a white female, seeing that all of their relationships have been within their race. In fact, when we did see each other this summer, we did it without anyone else knowing. Before leaving school for the summer, I was able to talk to a counselor and a race relations professor, and one of them said that eventually, if I tell my mom, she'll come around eventually, while another said that my lack of a support group is troublesome and can understand why I feel this way. And another thing is that I am pretty much deathly shy about approaching females for personal reasons, and this girl is the first one that I've ever had feelings for. I feel bad for having to put her through all this stuff and she understands that it's hard for me, even though she wishes I could just talk to my mom about it. But I fear that this whole issue may drive this girl away eventually, and this whole thing would be shot down before it ever had a chance to get off the ground. I've even thought about just telling her to just move on without me, but I'm not willing to give up that easy. I wouldn't be as mad if a relationship did start, and things just didn't work out between us, because I know that happens. But...I don't know, I really need help here. And if it matters at all, I'm 19 years old. Now I'm finished. Sorry for making you read through all of that. Spammers need not apply. BumbleBee: Yeah, I figured...the thing is though, I have no car, and I'm still under my mom's roof, so I guess I can only wait until I'm through college and living on my own to date whomever I want. moreResolved Question: Did any one read Dicey's Song by Cynthia Voigt i hav a question for a boook report thanks?

As the question says, I would like to find out why most people regard the movie "Enter the Dragon" with Bruce Lee better than "Bloodsport" starring Jean-Claude Van Damme. It seems like most people that argue that are really arguing points outside of the movie itself, specifically that "Enter the Dragon" is better than "Bloodsport" because it features Bruce Lee. I don't think that is fair to the movies though, because we are reducing both movies to the arguement of who is better overall, Bruce Lee, or Van Damme. I also realize that "better" is a very dicey, loaded, and subjective word, but for purposes of keeping this short, it will do. So what I want to know is this. Which movie do you like more, and why? Say what you want, be it inside or outside of these movies themselves, I just would like you to clearly (as much as possible) to articulate your reasons. Also, being subjective is fine, nothing wrong with that, but don't pass it off as a fact Personally, I think Bloodsport is a better movie. It is richer in subtext, more cinematic, and I just think there are more and deeper reasons that drive Frank Dux. As well, Frank is a more loaded character, (though not terribly so), and more relatable. He seems to have a much more emotional and *human* drive to achieve his goal, than Lee. I realize that Bruce Lee has a very deep personal philosophy behind his characters in his movies. But, frankly, I can't relate to them that easily. Yes he is determined, but it almost appears as if he sacrifices other, higher emotions to achieve this (the concepts of *Love* and *Empathy* come to mind). As well, his character seems less dimensional. Finally, I just have to point out that it doesn't ever seem like he is having to overcome much. Even in fights, no matter how devious the enemies are, you never feel like Bruce Lee might lose. I suppose that is a very good lesson in real life, but it just doesn't work as well in movies. It never seems like he has much of a personal journey. Well, enough ranting, what do you say? moreResolved Question: Dicey Riddle !!!! Help!?

Lately, my DSL internet had been behaving dicey and experiencing intermittent connection problems, which prompted AT&T to dispatch a tech to my house. While here, he confiscated my modem and (for free) installed a WiFi network, using a very high powered modem meant for office buildings (which he said would emit a signal for about a quarter mile all around the house). It provides over a 3 meg wireless signal to the labtop when used about two houses away, for example. Seeing as how I spend the majority of everyday (and the totality of each night) in a room that is probably thirty feet from the device, I'm concerned if there could be any associated health effects which I should worry about. Ever since it's been running, I have felt dizzy, and as an already migraine sensitive individual, I've been laboring through a migraine every evening, but whether there's any direct correlation, if it's happenchance, or even a placebo is beyond me. Can anyone please lend some help? a.) how can I determine the signal strength of the modem? and... b.) could there be any health threat, at all, from the signal? Thanks. moreResolved Question: Females or Males do you trust, your boyfriend/girlfriend or husband/wife to...?

When I refer to the 'rule of law' I mean that of Dicey etc. moreResolved Question: Irreducible complexity, and Evolution vs. Intelligent Design?
Now, this gets dicey, as every time I see an honest question about the ID vs. Evo debate be asked, you get a bunch of answers, but most are unintelligent slamming of something that the ignorant answerer can't argue for. So my question is this: Everywhere it seems to me that the argument against (macro) Evolution (not necessarily for Creationism, mind you, just against evolution) of Irreducible Complexity is rather ignored. Darwin himself said (something along the lines of, not a direct quote) "If it could be demonstrated that an organism existed that could not have been produced by minor, gradual changes, my theory would absolutely break down." Now, I know that most serious evolutionists would admit to the quote, but would probably argue that the evolutionary theory is constantly changing and that many advances have been made since Darwin's time. Still. Hear me out. In the book Darwin's Black Box, molecular biologist and former evolutionist himself Michael Behe gives three, just three, out of over (apparently, I heard somewhere else) one hundred known, examples of irreducibly complex systems; the most well known of which would probably be the flagellum motor of some single-celled organisms. If one part of this structure were removed, then the structure would not function, and therefore, according to the theory of macro-evolution, it SHOULD NOT EXIST. So I ask all you evolutionists out there, in the most genuinely curious manner possible, why does it? How can current evolutionary theory accommodate things such as structures inside cells, and the human eye, that according to natural selection, shouldn't be here? I don't want to see those answering to be doing so in any way insulting, and I don't want the fight that I have seen so many times over this on this site. But I really am curious to know what the other side thinks of this. Thanks! moreResolved Question: any good books to read ?
okay so i was wondering if anyone has any good book suggestions.. i liked the sisterhood of the travelling pants, twilight, my sister's keeper and nicholas sparks books-- like a walk to remember, the notebook etc (except for the fact that all of his books end sadly). some of my other favorites were where the red fern grows, dicey's song and a series of unfortunate events was okay, too. any suggestions would be appreciated :) moreResolved Question: Do you want your job health benefits to be taxed?
Obama is taking 2nd look at tax on benefits The Obama administration is signaling to Congress that the president could support taxing some employee health benefits, as several influential lawmakers and many economists favor, to help pay for an overhaul of the health care system. The proposal is politically dicey for President Obama, however, since it is similar to one he denounced in the presidential campaign as "the largest middle-class tax increase in history." Most Americans with insurance get it from their employers, and taxing the benefit is strongly opposed by union leaders and some businesses. In millions of dollars worth of television advertisements last fall, Obama criticized his Republican rival for the presidency, Sen. John McCain of Arizona, for proposing to tax employer-provided health benefits. The benefits have long been tax-free, regardless of how generous they are or how much an employee earns. http://www.startribune.com/nation/41261832.html?elr=KArksLckD8EQDUoaEyqyP4O:DW3ckUiD3aPc:_Yyc:aUUsZ "Don't pay any attention to what the Star Tribune says. McCain was the one one who wanted to tax health care benefits." So the Star Tribune article tells me. But you tell me not to pay any attention to what the Star Tribune says. By the way, McCain lost the election. So what he wanted to do is not relevant. The man who is in the White House now is relevant. So if you have a problem with McCain doing it, surely you have a problem with Obama doing it? moreVoting Question: What should my last sentence be?
Heres what i have so far: Untruthfulness plays a huge role in the protagonists ways. In Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry, Cassie portrays her untruthfulness when she pretended to like Lillian Simms, when she was only trying to get all of her secrets, and use them against her. Jonas also lied in The Giver at the dinner table. When he was asked if he had any dreams, he replied with a no when he really did have a dream, but decided it would be best not to tell. Bilbo is untruthful since he never told the dwarves about the ring, and said that he escaped Gollum, a small, mysterious creature who dwells in the caves of Moira, by himself. Finally, Dicey is untruthful when she claims she is a boy to Lou, a boy in almost the same position as she is, “Whats your name kid?” The boy asked. “Danny”. Its an essay about comparing traits that the characters share. Just having trouble with the last sentence. Thanks. moreVoting Question: I wonder where to put some money that I will be getting.?

I have a boy friend who I have been dating for two years. He recently moved away to finish college and we have continued to stay "together", but things have been kinda dicey since then. In regards to going out, my wife loves to go out, and she has had a very dicey track record. Just to the point before i met her she use to have wild parties, dancing on pool table, swapping partners, and girl on girl issues. Her husband at the time was a complete duech very controlling, alcoholic and big time drug abuser. She told me going into our relationship she did not want that life style and was forced by him otherwise she would be drugged or hit and even forced to have sex against her will - so she just gave in to have a easier life. So i came around and everything changed - no more parties or alcohol etc etc, Now 5 years later she has left this saturday but with questions unanswered. She slowly started to revert back to her old ways and started getting drunk way to often and smoking weed when it was around. she would get verbally mean when she got drunk and not care about anything and had a do anything now and worry about it in the morning attitude, this really hampered my trust with her. So i clamped down and tried to control the going out to bars ect ect. Now she started talking on internet and phone with old friends from up north and things went to far - her first friend was actually telling her he was in love with her and he was coming down, see she like s to tell people way to much info. that got crushed by her ( yes i was proud of her) then it started again with a different guy, this one she use to date in high school, was intimate with and also almost married him- same old song and dance, spending more time on phone and internet then with me - then this guys daughter came into the picture and started texting my wife like she was looking for new mommy. this has gone on for months with people on the outside telling her to watch herslef then on the day before she left all of a sudden she want to go to michigan and visit 4 girlfriends and just happened to be same town this tool she was talking to was from, i said no if your friends want to meet , meet halfway or i will fly them down to see you, she was very happy about this and next day was gone. i then found out through my brother who was her best friend she was talking to this guy about him coming down her or her up there. Did i do something wrong? I know there is always 2 sides of the story, but in this instance more of our friends and family see it the way i do and the only people she has pulled the wool over are 2 close friends here at home her mother and father(who she hated up to the day she left and couldnt stand because she was adopted and at 34 years old have never told her the info about real parents, not even when her first child died from rare disease and all the needed was bone marrow transplant and when she asked for the info they refused to give it) and of course the multitued of a holes on the internet she calls friends. moreResolved Question: I AM GETTING INTO SOMEONE'S NETWORK CONNECTION?

I saw an ad for pet baptismal kits the other day and was rather amazed. There was a baptismal certificate and everything. It just pictured cats and dogs. I think baptizing say, a ferret or a pet goat might be a bit dicey. Jared--I have no idea if the people selling the baptismal kits were Christian or not. They were selling all kinds of weird pet stuff. I just mention the baptismal kit because this is R&S. Again to Jared: I know it was marketed *to* Christians but that doesn't mean it was marketed *by* Christians. They were selling pet marriage kits, too. I initially lived in wisconsin. I went to a college on the east coast because I loved the city. Eventually however with this economic recession things got kind of dicey, and I became extremely homesick at the beginning of my sophomore year. On top of this, I had developed a love interest in one of my friends back home who reciprocated it. To save money and try to go back to what seemed 'a better, simpler way of life', I transferred to a college 2 hours away from home. I've regretted every minute I've spent here. The academics are a little better, but all the social activities are skewed and nothing like they were at my old college. Is it possible to transfer back? moreResolved Question: Is it going to get dicey in America soon?
Should I think about flying back to my home country, one-way, soon? Things aren't looking good. I said when I see the first sign of trouble, I'm booking a ticket out. I've always known something was wrong, but people kept saying "No, America's the best, we can never do any wrong!" Ha ha ha ha ha...wow, how wrong were these folks? America is about to turn into the socialist countries that they hated. Not that its a bad thing, more like it was inevitable all along. moreResolved Question: Midtown Atlanta to Little Five Points?
I am staying in midtown Atlanta (Georgian Terrace Hotel.) and seeing a concert at the Variety Playhouse in Little Five Points next month. I understand these are two reasonably safe areas of town. I was wondering if it is OK to try and walk from midtown to Little Five Points during the afternoon, or does it get a but dicey in the 2 miles walk? If so, I will take a taxi. Also, most importantly, is it easy to get a taxi in Little Five Points at night to take me back to midtown? moreVoting Question: Psychology & Statistics The gambler's fallacy Please help?
This study shows that a part of the brain reacts to the impact of losing, and it might explain why people tend to increase their bets after losing when gambling. I need help to explain how this type of split decision making may influence fighter pilots, firefighters, or police officers, as the article states. Article as follows: A gambler usually wagers more after taking a loss, in the misguided belief that a run of bad luck increases the probability of a win. We tend to cling to the misconception that past events can skew future odds. "On some level, you're thinking, 'If I just lost, it's going to even out.' The extent to which you're disturbed by a loss seems to go along with risky behavior," says University of Michigan psychologist William Gehring, Ph.D., co-author of a study linking dicey decision-making to neurological activity originating in the medial frontal cortex, long thought to be an area of the brain used in error detection. Because people are so driven to up the ante after a loss, Gehring believes that the medial frontal cortex unconsciously influences future decisions based on the impact of the loss, in addition to registering the loss itself. Gehring drew this conclusion by asking 12 subjects fitted with electrode caps to choose either the number 5 or 25, with the larger number representing the riskier bet. On any given round, both numbers could amount to a loss, both could amount to a gain or the results could split, one number signifying a loss, the other a gain. The medial frontal cortex responded to the outcome of a gamble within a quarter of a second, registering sharp electrical impulses only after a loss. Gehring points out that if the medial frontal cortex simply detected errors it would have reacted after participants chose the lesser of two possible gains. In other words, choosing "5" during a round in which both numbers paid off and betting on "25" would have yielded a larger profit. After the study appeared in Science, Gehring received several e-mails from stock traders likening the "gambler's fallacy" to impulsive trading decisions made directly after off-loading a losing security. Researchers speculate that such risky, split-second decision-making could extend to fighter pilots, firemen and policemen—professions in which rapid-fire decisions are crucial and frequent. Background Info: I have a boyfriend of three years, two of which we have been living together. When we first started dating, I was 18 and he was 21. The first year was dicey as we were both in that "party time" of our life and I had some issues with him lying a few times (regarding drugs). We got passed those issues and we both started getting more serious with our relationship. Although I liked to have fun, I have worked consistently since I was 16 years old as a receptionist and admin assisting...making sure to work on my resume to benefit my future. He, on the other hand, had little motivation to have a serious job (he worked at papa murphey's at the time) and found the party scene more appealing. The problem now: So, now I am 21 and he is 24 years old. We have grown so close and have been through a lot together. He has a good job and is very dedicated to his job (amazon). The only problem is that since he started off later in life, he doesn't seem to have the ability to work out his finances (he goes out and buys a video game and then asks me for gas money), he doesn't make much (I make a lot more than he), and he seems a little immature for his age (I'll tell you a fun story). Don't get me wrong, I love him dearly and we have a great time (most of the time)...but sometimes he's so immature I get a little embarrassed if we are around people. To help you further understand what I mean about being immature: (This is the fun story part) So we were walking the dog and he finds a stick and starts playing with the dog with it. At this point, I was holding the leash. He goes like he is going to throw the stick and I warn him not to throw it or our dog is going to yank my arm when she goes to chase it. So he says, "I want to see if she yanks your arm off" and throws it. Sure enough, she yanks me forward and I almost fall. All the while, he's giggling like a school girl. (15 min later he finally realizes that I'm upset and appologizes) He doesn't always act like that but just has these immaturity kicks that drive me nuts. My question is: I want to marry and have a family with this man. Should I be worried that this 24 year old is going to act irresponsible/immature his whole life or should I not worry about it since he's young and just having fun? moreResolved Question: Satire essay (about religion)?
In my English class, we have to write an essay about some form of modern satire and I'm thinking about doing it on religion. (Just so you know, I am a very tolerant person and I never make fun of religion to people, I just think this would be an interesting topic). However, I know that my teacher converted to Catholicism when he married, and I don't know if this topic will offend him. Should I do the essay anyway or should I play it safe with some other topic?
