Open Question: im not sure why but...?
ive always thought of myself as fat, even when i actually wasnt and recently ive become obsessed with weight. at christmas i became bulimic, but didnt last long because of the physical strain of purging/eating. so i then just gave up, didnt eat but didnt do too much excercise either. im now 15, 5ft 3 and my bmi is about 20. if it goes below 19.5 it means im underweight, which doesnt make sense because im actually not that slim, even people have told me im average. i discovered a pro-ana site. and i know they can be extremely dangerous but there was a support group and everything that was mentioned i was going through/thinking/feeling etc. i made some friends and now we are all helping each other get to the weight we want. i have been excercising/fasting/dieting etc and alltogether lost about 15lb in 2 weeks. which brought my bmi down to 20. im on a liquid fast at the moment, i started yesterday and end it on next tuesday. but parents are going crazy at me and forcing me to eat unhealthy food such as pizza, and i have already asked them if i can have healthier options but they just wont listen no matter what. i do excercise often aswell but often pass out from lack of energy, my friends notice a difference in me aswell, they say i look drained and losing to much weight in little time. i cant stop, and i dont have a ED. i just have too much going on at the moment to do anything else. does anyone think i have the beginnings of anerexia? im trying to prove to my parents that i dont. moreResolved Question: my 13 month old rothweilor, has developed a large lump on elbow, vet drained-watery pink liquid ,gave antibiot?

I know this is a weird question but please, bear with me. I am looking for a specific drain un-blocker but can't remember the name of it. I have used it once before and it was ace. Can anyone remember the name of this product if I describe what the product does? Here goes: You have to fill your sink/bath about an inch or so then get the product (it's like and aerosol/can), hold it upside down and put it over the plug hole and push down hard. The force of what is in the can pushes the gunk that's blocking your drain through your pipe and out of the other hole in your sink/bath (sorry, don't know what it's called). I used this product about 2 years ago or so and I now need it again as nothing else seems to shift what is blocking my drain. The item is not a liquid or foam unblocker. It's a pressurised can of some sort. Hope someone can help, cheers! moreResolved Question: C-Section Scar Not Healing?
Hi all, I need some advice, I had a C-Section 3 weeks ago to delivery my baby girl, they used disolvable stitches and everything was fine, after a week though it started getting a little gunky and now there is a small hole in the centre of the scar about the size of a cigarette end, and a smaller hole further along, both pour out a light brown liquid which doesn't smell thankfully, I am taking antibiotics and been advised to change the dressing 3 times a day.... it doesn't seem to be healing though, the doctor basically said there isnt much they can do until it has drained but it seems to do nothing BUT drain and never dry! I just don't know what to do any more the doctors seem to fob me off, the district nurse just tells me to keep changing the dressing and nobody seems to want to help it is horrible and fluidy and the solid bit is getting bigger.....any advice would be appreciated please moreResolved Question: I serviced my vauxhall vectra 2.0 di and when i tried to drain water from the deisel fuel filter all i got was?

...and have had it for about 8/9 months, on the outside gum one of my back teeth. It's always been about the same size, 3-4mm, and fills with puss which I've been draining every three or four days or so. It isn't spreading, nor do I ever get any pain, just a tiny bit of liquid each time I get it out. It's on the side of a crown (done 3-4 years ago the last time I went to the dentist), which can't be a co-incidence, but I'm really scared of dentistry etc. I've now got my dental insurance and have booked an appointment after the insurance kicks in, but am hoping that it's just a case of antibiotics. Is this likely or will it need drilling etc? Reason for my question is out of financial as well as scared reasons! moreResolved Question: How to deal with fat on lean mice?

I have got plastic cap ( plastic nozzle of bleach bottle, not the upper cap but the one from where the liquid comes out, white one) has got stuck in the drain pipe of my sink. I opened the P trap and was trying to put bleach straight into the drain pipe by pressing the bottle and suddenly the white nozzle plastic thing went inside the pipe and has clogged the sink. The water doesnt go thorugh the pipe now as its been clogged by the plastic cap. The worrying bit is that it has gone down further the pipe as i was trying to take it out with hanger. People have suggested me to use dry/wet VAC or try auger to snake it out. Will Drain auger will get hold of the plastic and pull it out or not? Please suggest me something as i did my toothbrush in bath tub this morning .. i need my sink back to normal and i cant pay 100's of quids to plumber in this time of credit crunch too... moreResolved Question: My potato cakes are always gloopy inside. Any suggestions?
I've been trying to make proper potato cakes for ages now, and it never works. My current recipe is: 400g boiled potatoes, drained, allowed to "dry in their steam", cooled and mashed 110g flour 1 egg salt, pepper Mix all ingredients, roll out to 1/2 to 1/4 inch thick, cut into squares and fry on medium heat for 5 minutes. ------------------- I *always* have to add more flour than it says, otherwise the mixture is too liquid to manage. The original recipe asks for me to fry for 5 minutes but this always resulted in gloopy centres. I tried baking the potato cakes in the oven at 180 degrees, left them in for 30mins, turning over halfway, had to take them out at that point because they were starting to burn. No luck, still gloopy in centre. I thought of turning the temperature down to allow more cooking time, thinking this will help to dry them out more. 45 minutes, 160 degrees, no luck, still mushy inside. I've tried scoring the tops of the cakes after turning over halfway, to allow more moisture to escape. Not much different. I even tried at one point sitting in front of the oven and opening the door every 5 minutes to let out the humid air. No change. I can't even put any extra ingredients in (my eventual aim... recreating these fantastic warburtons potato cake triangles with leek, which they don't make any more) for fear of putting any more moisture into the centres. I'm going crazy, they really shouldn't be that difficult but right now I'm tempted to give up and start buying them again! I'm thinking the key to this could be getting more moisture out of the potatoes at the very beginning. Is there an easy way of drying them out first? Am I "drying them in their steam" wrong? (basically draining and leaving them in the pan til they stop steaming). The potatoes are cut into ~1inch chunks before boiling so there's plenty of surface area for them to dry. ok 20 yrs ago my mum had weightloss surgery (her stomach was stapled)they damaged her splein{(sp?) had to remove it,infact they ballsed up the whole op,since the op 20 yrs ago she has never been able to eat liquids she has had to have the likes of ensure and slimfast etc(if she eats she brings it straight back up),she gets alot of acid and wakes up during the night choking because of the fluid coming up,she has several leasions in her throat due to the acid and i think reflux, about a yr ago she saw a new doc who referred her (in between tis she has suffered severe pneumonia and has come very close to death) ok long story short this surgeon has just done a gastric band and corrected mistakes the previous one made(found all the staples that had come out etc etc ,re lined her stomach into place and removed a small part amongst other things ) so she got through the 8 hours of surgery 6 weeks ago, then got pneumonia and had to have a chest drain put in ,then when doing a scan the fluid they puty in made her veins burst, again she is through that. She came home, hasnt eaten anything at all still, has lost 3.5 stone .She looks like death warmed up.Ok today i got a call from my sis saying mum had taken a turn,we got there and she was unconcious but started drifting in and out obviously we called an ambulance, her husband(not my dad) has gone to the hospital but doesnt want any of her kids there(no one gets on with him and he has caused an awful loty of problems) so im just sitting waiting to hear...i am terrified this is it .mum is only 49 ,dads gone and i guess im just panicing maybe a bit too much but ... Anyway has any one else experienced anything after cosmetic surgery and how normal is it to have such bad problems after ? any advice much appreciated x moreResolved Question: Coolant/antifreeze leaking from my exhaust pipe accompanied by white smoke? Please Help!?
Its a 1997 Cadillac Seville Sls. I just bought it knowing it has problems but I plan on fixing them (I have a mechanic who will do it for cheap but would like to try and figure out the problem on my own so it is less costly and I know about how much everything will cost). So there is white smoke coming from the exhaust pipes and coolant also leaking from them. It is not leaking from the ends, on this cadillac there are two big rectangular areas (one on each pipe) and the leaking is coming from the ends of it. Sorry if that is hard to understand. Also before I noticed the leaking, because it ONLY happens when the car is on, I checked out the exhaust pipes and noticed in these spots white powder residue. So when I noticed the leaking(which is a pretty fast leak) I touched the liquid on the ground, which looked like water on the ground, and smelt it. On my hand it looked clear like water but only maybe slightly smelt sweet, it didn't really have much of a smell. I then checked the coolant resevoir and sucked some out to see what color it was (it is watery orange), I then squirted some on the ground and put my hand in it to see if there was a color to it on my hand and there wasn't. It looked like water and had the same smell as before(which is "there hardly is a smell"). The smell is stronger in the coolant resevoir. So now I'm convinced that it is coolant leaking into the exhaust pipe somehow. The smoke does not have a sweet smell it just smells like exhaust and it calms down after a while but when pushing on the gas alot comes out. When pushing the throttle. After releasing it goes back to how it was normally coming out. I checked the oil cap (after it had sat overnight) to see if there was any greyish or milky goo on the cap and there wasn't. I looked at the oil on the dip stick but it seemed to look normal but seemed too full, I am going to let it set a while and check it again because I did start it a while prior to that. My next step is to drain out the oil and look at it from there but exactly how long do I have to let it set and what characteristics am I looking for to see if there is water or coolant leaking into it? Since there is coolant leaking into the exhaust pipes does that automatically mean that its in the oil? What are some possibilities causing this and how do I check to see if it is that? Thank you all so much your help is appreciated. And one of the 02 sensors is bad if that may have anything to do with this. Also the car makes a noise from underneath somewhere. It goes off and on and kind of sounds like how the antenna sounds when it goes down. What would be the best place to purchase this part if it is one of these things. Are there different brands that are better than others or any place that sells them will do? moreResolved Question: When fluid is drained from (say) a lung or?

Basically, the girl is drowning. the story line is, she falls off a boat on a Cruise with her family and looses her memory. But the people who say they are her family, turn out to be murders... THERE WILL BE A LOT OF BAD SPELLING! lol I couldn't feel anything; I couldnt see anything. As my wourld spun around me, the numbness got stronger. Each cell in my body tingled unpleastantly. Everytime I took a breath, my lungs filled with sour water. It felt as if my chest was being ripped out whilst my heart still gasped for air. It was cold. More than cold, it was unberible. My goosebumps we're like mountins and my skin morphed into a pale white. And as the colour drained from my body, so did the energy. I Felt as if i was in a computer game and running out of lives. Game over. I sunk down to the endless black hole. No. I Couldn't let this happen. If there was any hope still locked in my mind, I had to search for it. I Gripped the hope with my hand and lifted myself upwards, out of the ice water. But my clothes still were heavy and clung to me. The hope was a rock. And as the feeling in my hands clapped back, i flet the warm blood drip down my fingers, were the sharp ganite ripped my skin. It was like a melting icecube slowly being exsposed to the sun. I gasped as my eyes shot open. I coughed saltwater up and out of my mouth. it stung, the taste was simply bloodcurdling.I vomitted onto the dry rock. We're the on Earth was I? How did I get here? As my mind raced after the answers, my burning eyes darted around. All I could see was black. but small lights dotted around. And the moon starded at me like one big eye. The night sky. I shifted myself up onto my elbows. It hurt, but I needed support. All I could see was ocean. It surround me, as if i was a lost fisherman. But i was missing a boat. we're the hell am I? I asked myself again. I didnt know how much time past, but the sun never came up. Slowley, but certinly, the numbness crawled away. The pain my head was insufferable . It was like i was being stabbed repeatly in the head, like i had no skull. I brang my hand up to my face and started at my cheeck, ice cold yet warm. The thick sticky liquid that flowed down my face was blood. My hand seached for the top of my head. The warm glue was covering my hair. My fingers brushed over a soft texture. I screamed in pain. The open wound on my head was the cause of the gashing pain.I curled up into a ball and squirmed like a worm. Untill the numbness crept back. My sneses dissaperd one by one. I guessed the drumming sound was my heart. It was loud and low. Like a metrodome. My weak ears also detected a beeping noise that came back evrey few seconds. But, there was a sound i picked out form the rest. It was breathing. It didnt match the uneven struggle of my own, it was loud but slow. I felt my eyebrows pull together in confussion, my muscles were stiff. I was too afraid to open my eyes , but too weak to talk or move. so i took a chance. My eyes slowely blinked open. At first it was a blur. Just colours-moslty white.I couldnt focus. Some people say cats never have to be bathed. They say cats lick themselves clean. They say cats have a special enzyme of some sort in their saliva that works like new, improved Wisk - dislodging the dirt where it hides and whisking it away. I've spent most of my life believing this folklore. Like most blind believers, I've been able to discount all the facts to the contrary - the kitty odors that lurk in the corners of the garage and dirt smudges that cling to the throw rug by the fireplace. The time comes, however, when a man must face reality; when he must look squarely in the face of massive public sentiment to the contrary and announce: "This cat smells like a port-a-potty on a hot day in Juarez." When that day arrives at your house, as it has in mine, I have some advice you might consider as you place your feline friend under you arm and head for the bathtub: * Know that although the cat has the advantage of quickness and lack of concern for human life, you have the advantage of strength. Capitalize on that advantage by selecting the battlefield. Don't try to bathe him in an open area where he can force you to chase him. Pick a very small bathroom. If your bathroom is more than four feet square, I recommend that you get in the tub with the cat and close the sliding-glass doors as if you were about to take a shower. (A simple shower curtain will not do. A berserk cat can shred a three-ply rubber shower curtain quicker than a politician can shift positions.) * Know that a cat has claws and will not hesitate to remove all the skin from your body. Your advantage here is that you are smart and know how to dress to protect yourself. I recommend canvas overalls tucked into high-top construction boots, a pair of steel-mesh gloves, an army helmet, a hockey face mask and a long-sleeve flak jacket. * Prepare everything in advance. There is no time to go out for a towel when you have a cat digging a hole in your flak jacket. Draw the water. Make sure the bottle of kitty shampoo is inside the glass enclosure. Make sure the towel can be reached, even if you are lying on your back in the water. * Use the element of surprise. Pick up your cat nonchalantly, as if to simply carry him to his supper dish. (Cats will not usually notice your strange attire. They have little or no interest in fashion as a rule. If he does notice your garb, calmly explain that you are taking part in a product- testing experiment for J.C. Penney.) * Once you are inside the bathroom, speed is essential to survival. In a single liquid motion, shut the bathroom door, step into the tub enclosure, slide the glass door shut, dip the cat in the water and squirt him with shampoo. You have begun one of the wildest 45 seconds of your life. Cats have no handles. Add the fact that he now has soapy fur, and the problem is radically compounded. Do not expect to hold on to him for more that two or three seconds at a time. When you have him, however, you must remember to give him another squirt of shampoo and rub like crazy. He'll then spring free and fall back into the water, thereby rinsing himself off. (The national record is - for cats - three latherings, so don't expect too much.) * Next, the cat must be dried. Novice cat bathers always assume this part will be the most difficult, for humans generally are worn out at this point and the cat is just getting really determined. In fact, the drying is simple compared to what you have just been through. That's because by now the cat is semipermanently affixed to your right leg. You simply pop the drain plug with your foot, reach for your towel and wait. (Occasionally, however, the cat will end up clinging to the top of your army helmet. If this happens, the best thing you can do is to shake him loose and to encourage him toward your leg.) After all the water is drained from the tub, it is a simple matter to just reach down and dry the cat. In a few days the cat will relax enough to be removed from your leg. He will usually have nothing to say for about three weeks and will spend a lot of time sitting with his back to you. He might even become psychoceramic and develop the fixed stare of a plaster figurine. You will be tempted to assume he is angry. This isn't usually the case. As a rule he is simply plotting ways to get through your defenses and injure you for life the next time you decide to give him a bath. But, at least now he smells a lot better. moreResolved Question: Do the signs point towards asperger's syndrome?
My srep-bro is 23 and i think he may have mild Asperger's, for which he has never been diagnosed. (He has never had a diagnosis for anything but when he was 15 his head techer mentioned he might have learning difficulties) He is obsessed with football and knows pretty much every player (and everything about the player), match score, scorer and every game that has been played all over Europe and even the world for the last 20 years or so. He has this knowlede for dates as well. However, he doesnt have this knowledge for any other topic and has never managed to hold down a job or leave school with qualifications. He received learning support whilst doing an (easy) college course and he doesnt grasp basic concepts. He has poor social skills and is awkward around people. He takes things literally and needs things explained to him several times. He was asked to buy washing up liquid and insisted on taking the empty bottle with him to the shop - presumably so he would recognise it on the shelf. He asks questions about everything constantly and can be draining (without realising it). He has been in trouble with the police - nothing too serious - but a situation anyone should have the sense to avoid. He lives with his mum who is very protective and does a lot for him - however i dont know if this hinders him or genuinly helps him! I want to know what people think before i think about suggesting anything to his mum about Asperger's. Thanks!! No, his mum doesnt think this - i have never actually asked her but it's never been mentioned before. He has been like this since he was a kid and we've always just thought that being the youngest of 4 he is like this! However now 23 it's clear there's something more going on and i think without a diagnosis of some sort life might get much harder for him. I have: Kilner Jars Sterilising tablets Ready spiced pickling vinegar Lots of chilis, different shapes and sizes My aim is something along the lines of: http://www.all-creatures.org/recipes/images/jalapeno-slpick.jpg ...with as little messing about as possible. I've read so many different notes on doing this that I'm just confused. I'm pretty sure the jars need sterilising but then... 1. Do I need to do anything to the chilis before chopping them up? (eg. slapping a load of salt on 'em, pouring a kettle full of boiling water over 'em, "blanching them" whatever that is etc)? 2. Do I need to do anything with the chilis after chopping them up? (eg. see above) 3. Is ready spiced pickling vinegar ok for chilis or do I need to try something more briny (I notice the liquid in supermarket pickled chilis tastes like mild salty vinegar rather than yr pure pickling vinegar)? 4. If I need to coat them in salt at some stage, will table salt do or must it be "pickling salt"? And how long do I leave them covered in it? 5. If this salting is to remove water, doesn't "rinsing it off with cold water" as I've seen suggested put water back in again? If I end up soaking them in brine overnight, as suggested in one placed, do I rinse it off with cold/hot/boiling water or just drain it off then plonk them straight into the kilner jar? The doctors have booked her in for a scan so that they can treat her accordingly but this is not until 4th August. Is there anything she can do to help eliminate the swelling in the meantime? Should she be eating natural diaretics and if so what?, however recently she has only been able to eat very light fruit and a kind of build up liquid given to her by the hospital . In the kitchen there are two plugs, one for the main sink, the other for a smaller section, still a part of the kitchen sink installation, but has a sieve basin thing in it. Not sure what the point of it is. Anyway when I'm doing the dishes in the big sink, whatever goes down the plug comes up the plug in the smaller sink. There's no blockage, the drain outside the kitchen is fine. But it seems the U-bend is too small to cope with washing up liquid bubbles. i had my daughter 9mos ago. i didnt breast feed. i became engorged then it drained away. i fell pregnant again, had to have a termination upon medical advice at 7 weeks gestation. and now 3 weeks post termination my breasts are leaking clear liquid. any ideas no pills. have the implanon in, also taking microgynon 30 to regulate bleeding caused by implanon moreResolved Question: Another hygiene Q: how far would you go to clean if this happened in your house?
A sewer drain has blocked and leaked all over our drive. It is only liquid leakage because obviously there's a closed grid. But still, it has filtered through the sewage. We were unaware that this grid was concealing a sewer, so any leakage that might have happened before has not been noticed, so we have unwittingly probably tramped it all through the house. Downstairs is tiles and lino, upstairs carpet. I have hereby banned shoes from the house until the problem is fixed. I mop disinfected downstairs and went on my hands and knees disinfecting every trodden scrap of carpet with vinegar and very hot water, after my chemical cleaners had ran out. I cleaned the couches, cleaned every table top, changed the beds. I've since put various shoes in the washing machine, after throwing some out. I need to clean my boyfriend's car too because the leak is on the side of the drive he parks. Am I going too far? There were no visible signs of contamination and no smells, but still. moreResolved Question: some medical advice please?

So my drains kept backing up in the bathroom and I got online to do some research for home remedies before paying buco bucks to have a plumber come out. Results were dishsoap + bleach + hot water = ferocious flush and no burping in the shower and sink. No one said anything about a sore throat, cough, and nausia. I laid in bed most of the day thinking I had a fever, and after having the windows open for a while, I started feeling better. I'm drinking lots of liquids, but I don't know if I should be scared of any lingering gases. I still don't feel well and I don't know if that's the problem. moreResolved Question: how do you clear bath tub and sink drains?

But, at least now he smells a lot better. moreResolved Question: Leak under the car, driver side. Not under bonnet but more directly below dashboard.?
