Open Question: My dishwasher has water standing in bottom cleaned lines and still standing water. when running all works but?
my dishwasher has standing water in bottom, covering the hole bottom of dishwasher. sometimes water leaks out on to floor. I have cleaned the lines, so I am sure of no clog. When dishwasher is cycleing and gets to drain cycle I can hear the pump running but does not drain. No water leaks out of dishwasher untill the dishwasher fills up with so much water that it leaks water out the bottom of the disherwasher font door. my dishwasher did have a clog somewhere! I was told to try a half of cup of baking soda and water to make it a pourable paste pour in the filter screen in the bottom of dishwasher and then pour a half cup of vineger in filter. boil a quart of water and pour it in to sreen to. after I did this, The next day my dishwasher was draining again. I just recently moved into my first apartment with a friend. Neither of us have lived away from home so this is a very new thing to us! We have a 2 bedroom that's in a really good part of town and some-what spacious, but seems kind of small for a 2-bedroom I think, 1 bathroom, VERY small kitchen. (just details you might need to know to help answer my question).We moved in about a week and half ago and up until yesterday we couldn't use the shower because no curtain/rod was up and no blinds to cover the window that is in it (we showered at the rents lol) , the ceiling in one of the bedrooms is leaking every so often which my landlord believes is little kids above us splashing water on the floor, he caulked the crack the water was going through but some is still leaking down to my bedroom, that is the major thing! Other than that -little things- we HAD an old fridge just got a new one but the old one froze some of our food we had to throw out, the outlet/switch covers havent been put back on yet, the kitchen sink is clogged and takes forever to drain, and the bedroom ceiling where the leak is all around it is starting to turn yellowish! Like the ceiling can explode with water any second! lol But thing is I feel bad about possibly asking for a slight decrease in rent til the problems are fixed because we did just get a new fridge, and our landlord is really nice! Has a huge family but is very forgetful with doing things. Because we have told him about these things a couple times....btw rent is $440 a month for us 2 college students. ALSO since we've been living here we have been cleaning a lot, something I thought should already have been done? And it's pretty bad brown tar crap all over the fans and doors from the smoker that lived there before us... I was thinking about lowering it to maybe 400? Little less? hi all, this may sound odd...I had a weird musty smell coming from my water closet in the basement. It turns out that my floor drain/basement toilet started to overflo with sewage/fowl smelling water. at first I thought my friend's son clogged up the toilet..the toilet never seemed as efficient as the rest in the house. Yet one still could flush said toilet..the water went down..yet the drain ( located on the other side of the sumppump would flood then) So I doubt the line from the toilet is clogged..though drain is filled with water. So I am now back to the sumppump..I got the owner's manual online..had some hints like checking to see if unit is clogged or floater working etc. I'm gonna play with all that tonight after work. Yet it's funny that it is now raining cats and dogs outside right now..one would assume my basement would start to flood again ( seeing how the sumppump supposely isn't working correctly... yet the floor is basically dry as a bone??? The waterlevel in the drain hasn't changed at all since last night. How can this be? It's my understanding that the water in the sumppump (if any) is from rain and water that gets into the basement..it smells because it has accumulated over a period of time). I live on the third floor of a house, it's a converted attic apartment. When my house was built 60 years ago, the original builder had the foresight to see that there would probably be a drainage problem in the front yard. The house sits slightly (2 to 3 feet) below street level. The front yard is not sloped. There’s the 2 to 3 foot hill down from the road then the yard is level until you get to the front of the house. Two drains were laid in the front yard to catch the overflow of rain (they consist of the red cement/terra cotta pipe used in those days) and heavy stainless steel grating was used to make the covers. The ends of the gutters (the part that would normally be the downspout that removes rain away from the house, also feed into underground pipes. Back to the house. The house was built into a hill in order to have a full basement/garage. The front 24' of the basement is underground. For a better idea, there’s a 24’ x 24’ storage room built under the side porch on the house that is completely underground. Once you exit the underground or in-ground room, the house is no longer completely underground and there are several windows in the basement from this point on. In the basement are three shower-like drains. There are also two drains holes in the driveway at the back of the house. So a run down of the drains: 2 hole type drains in the front yard. 4 gutter downspouts that feed into pipes 3 shower-like drains built into the basement floor 2 hole type drains in the driveway. Note: When heavy rains come NONE of these drains “back up” indicating the drain may be stopped up. 8 feet from where the two in ground drains in the driveway are located is a 3 foot hill. Exiting from this hill are several concrete pipes. This is were all these drains come together and water is forced out into the level background. Sounds messy, but the original home owner strategically planted several fruit bearing trees and other plants around or near exiting concrete pipes to insure watering. Finally, here’s the problem. While the two drains in the driveway are doing their job, we can find no exit point for the other nine drains (no visable drainage when a garden hose is placed in the drain and the water runs at full force for 30 minutes, not even a trickle). We are ASSUMING that at some point, probably under the house, these drains come together (they may not) and if the drains in the front of the house were blocked or stopped up, the drains in the basement floor would back up. This is not the case. Normal evening rain showers cause no problem. But if it happens to rain hard (2” or more) water does come into the basement. Leaking areas are where the brick and foundation meet or the water rises up through the concrete floor. It is nothing major, just a couple of streams (only on one side of the house) that lead from the foundation to the basement floor drain and the water comes up through the concrete floor in the 24’ x 24’ room under the front porch. A sump pump would be a complete waste of money in this case, as the biggest “puddle” wouldn’t cover the top of your foot if you stepped into the water. My dad believes the drains in the front yard are clogged causing the water to enter the basement. I believe over the years the house has settled and the drain pipes are cracked. Were they clogged, water in the basement floor drains would back up. I would even want to guess what it would cost to dig up the basement floor, I’d live with the leaks first. I don't believe running a drain snake inside the pipe would work. I think this calls for very high pressured water to literally brow anything out that might be blocking the line. If this didn't work and the water rises in the base, the pipes must be damaged. How can I obtain the major water pressure I need? Hoping someone out there may have some knowledge in this area or has run into this same problem. Thanks for your patiences in reading my novel. I rented a town home with a property management company 7 weeks ago. The previous tenants who had lived there for over 10 years abandoned it. The first time I was shown the property it was pretty trashed and they had workers there fixing it up. I was told that everything was being fixed or replaced and would be in perfect order by the time I moved in. if I had any problems just to let them know and it would be taken care of. So I signed a year lease and moved in. however everything had not been fixed and the things that were fix were cheep and done poorly. So for the last 7 weeks this is what I have been dealing with. Stove was not working, air conditioning and heating not working, my front door dead bolt got stuck and I couldn’t open the door, no lock on the garage door, automatic garage door not working, electrical plugs not working, one window will not close or lock, screens broken, no light bulbs in any rooms, toilet lid and handle broken, one toilet that wont stop running, two bathtubs clogged, three sinks clogged, three faucets leaking, they only cleaned the carpet instead of replacing it, so there are stains everywhere and it smells, and on top of all that they were to cheep to hire a painter so the owner had some friends do it, so it looks horrible, bad patches and missed patches everywhere, I have had to clean paint off the floors, cabinets, tile, carpet, fixtures, door knobs, mirrors and take off the painters tape everywhere. I called the property manager, made a list and gave it to him. Yet nothing was taken care of for 3 weeks. Now some of the things have been fixed but not all. I continued to call yet it seemed as if no one communicates with each other nor has there been any follow threw. So I began to clean and fix things myself. I also called a plumber and had him come out and give an estimate. So when it came time for me to pay rent I ask the property manager to take some money off my rent for compensation of what I had been doing, dealing with, fixing, cleaning..ect I also told him about the plumbers estimate. He said that I would not be getting any compensation. Then he had the audacity to say to me that I am simply an anal retentive female that wants everything to be just perfect. All of the things I am complaining about no one would have known unless they lived there. The condition of the place was fine and the previous tenants never complained nor did they ever call him for anything. After that he said no to the plumber I called and that he would call his plumber who was cheaper. From there I did not hear back from him for 4 days. Then I came home from work and the place was flooded. Due to the running toilet upstairs and clogged drains I spoke about earlier. I had to call a 24 hour plumber pay him $460 cash to fix everything due to it was late at night. The property manager came the next morning told me don’t worry about this month rent till we figure things out. However now I am dealing with people coming to the house everyday, insurance, tests, and this company with fans to dry out the place. I currently have fans all over the place where you can not walk anywhere, they cut holes in all the walls, the fans are so loud I cant sleep, and I am sure my electric bill is going to be crazy. I’ve been cleaning up water, dirt, dust and everything from this mess. Now they took out the fans out, along with the linoleum floors in the bathroom, and cut out all the carpet that got wet. So I am left with a dirty house with holes in the walls, bathroom floors are sticky from removing the linoleum, and to top it off they did not remove any of the tack boards from underneath the carpet. So I continue to step on nails. I guess you could say I am at a loss and looking for some advice on what to do next. I am not currently being charged rent and they said I would get compensation. However now I have to deal with all this being fixed on top of all the rest. How much compensation will I receive? I currently have fans all over the place where you can not walk anywhere, they cut holes in all the walls, the fans are so loud I cant sleep, and I am sure my electric bill is going to be crazy. I’ve been cleaning up water, dirt, dust and everything from this mess. Now they took out the fans out, along with the linoleum floors in the bathroom, and cut out all the carpet that got wet. So I am left with a dirty house with holes in the walls, bathroom floors are sticky from removing the linoleum, and to top it off they did not remove any of the tack boards from underneath the carpet. So I continue to step on nails. I guess you could say I am at a loss and looking for some advice on what to do next. I am not currently being charged rent and they said I would get compensation. However now I have to deal with all this being fixed on top of all the rest. How much compensation will I receive? The funny thing is all of this could have been avoided if the property manager would have listened to me and taken care of all of these thing instead of calling me anal retentive. I then plunge it and then I hear the tub making noises, then water will come out of the tub. There then will be standing water. Then after 10 minutes or so the water in the tub will be gone, and all of the water in the toilet will be gone. I have a 50 year old house that is connected to the city sewer. I do have trees in my frontyard. I just looked at my floor drain in my laundry room, and that appears clogged to. If I pour water in it, it will take about 30 minutes to go down all the way. I am sure that this is causing the issue. Everything in my kitchen drains fine. Would copper sulfate work maybe? Any ideas? My 95 Contour has been leaking from beneath the glovebox for a week now (slight smell, has foamed up like mold and left black staining on the passenger's floor mat). This led me to think I was leaking antifreeze, although there was no burning antifreeze smell, just a slight odor. After removing the foam under the glovebox I've found that the leak is directly beneath the blower motor. I checked the cabin filter; it is brand new and clean (no clogs there). The only other thing I can think of is a clog in the box drain, which I can't locate. But can I be pooling water from my evaporator core is I never use the A/C? And would the fluid be leaking a foamy fluid and staining black what I assume is refrigerant? I do use heat and defrost on occasion; the A/C hasn't been touched in a year. The heater core itself is central behind the dash, and not where the leak is originating. Any thoughts would be great. Thanks! Added: No engine problems, no overheating. Although, I haven't driven more than 3 miles at a time since the leaking. I might try some stopleak to see what happens. Hello, To give a short background to this question, my younger sister had done some things to my home that I don't appreciate to this day. One habit she had during a winter not long ago was pouring grease from cooking bacon and burgers down the drain. The drain backed up solid and I was stuck with the problem. I tried several boiling water techniques but that didn't reach the lodged fat in my pipes. Eventually I went to the local hardware store to ask a 'professional' on how to clear a clog. I explained to him all of my concerns including that the sink was a porous porcelain sink. The man stated that this cleaner, whatever it was, will not be an issue, it will do no harm and clear your drain. Supposedly it was much more dense than water so it will sink down into the pipe and clear the clog with ease. I gave it a shot for my 20 dollars or so. After a few hours of waiting around for this junk to do it's job I started to come to the conclusion that this stuff isn't going to cut it. I put a hose into the filled sink and drained the fluid to find that the sink's porcelain was pretty well eaten away. I called in a plumber and he cleared the drain by cutting some of the pipe and getting it out himself. That stuff sprayed all over the floor as well, bleh what a mess. Anyway, this was a year ago or so. So now I want to fix this wonderful porcelain sink back to it's original beauty. I have only started looking recently and I thought that perhaps some expert here or someone with experience in this matter may already have an answer that I desire. When running my Central A/C it cools the house okay but it's colder in the closet where the inside unit is. I noticed cold air coming from the pvc condensation drain and below the unit platform. We are renters and we were told that we could install a washing machine in the basement, where it drains into a large sink. We use lint filters over the washer hose, as well as sink strainers in the drains of the sink. We clean out the strainers every single time we do a load of laundry. However, every few months, the drain in the main sink clogs and water goes all over the floor. The landlady has had to call a plumber to snake the drains a few times. We own an antique home with a rubble wall foundation/ dirt floor/sump pit, hot air furnace keeps basement warm. There is no way to keep spring snow melt water out of basement. I have placed 6 mil plastic on floor and run a dehumidifier. A basement company proposes to install "clean space" thick liner material on walls and floor, install a new sump pit and pump, a industrial strength dehumidifier, non clogging drain tiles to direct water to the pit, and a material under the liner that will allow walking on surface. We're looking at buying a house and during the inspection we found a small access door in a cupboard behind the guest bath. When we opened it we saw the underside of the bathtub and what appears to be a large hole in the slab on grade foundation with several pipes coming up from the dirt floor. I have tried to find why they would leave a hole in the foundation here. My best guess is to better access a any clogs in the S shaped curve of the tub drain (which would be underground) but I don't know for sure. I've had this problem for awhile now, but it seems to be getting much worse. I have long curly hair I don't color or blow dry or even comb my hair for that matter and I only shampoo once every few days. for the last two months or so, water has backed up out of my kitchen sink at least five times (that I know of). there does not seem to be any clog that I can tell. water drains perfectly fine otherwise. the garbage disposal works fine as well. the water does go down after a while, but it has overflowed onto the floor a few of the times that it has happened. For the past few months I have noticed that I becomming increasingly more and more tired. I go to sleep at regular times when I used to always stay up late. I sleep in until someone wakes me up or until I have to go to class or work. I nap everyday in between class and work and have no energy. My mother is a compulsive hoarder. She is constantly bringing home large bags full of junk from thrift stores and leaves them all over the house. The attic, the basement, and most of the rooms in her house are full of heaps of clothes on every surface and all kinds of junk and clutter on the floor. The kitchen is dirty, the kitchen drain is clogged (but the plumber won't fix it because he said he can't safely get his equipment in amongst all the junk, or bring it into the basement to fix the pipes). There are mice living in the lower kitchen cabinets and in the attic. Despite the many hazards this situation poses, she refuses to get help or even acknowledge the problem. I have tried to clean but whenever I throw things away she retrieves them. A few months ago I did a pretty thorough job of cleaning the living room, bathroom, front porch and one bedroom but since then she continues to pile up junk all over so those rooms are very messy again. So my question is, should I report this situation to adult protective services? I talked to a friend about it and he told me the other side to consider is that she might lose her job (she's a nurse) if reporting her resulted in her having to be hospitalized. I am just so concerned for her safety (the mess poses fire hazards, tripping/falling hazards, the danger of diseases from the mice, etc). The way she lives is unhealthy, as well as doing serious damage to the value of the house. It's also a public health concern. What do you think? Should I report it for her own good, or just allow her to live the way she chooses and face the consequences of her choices? By the way, she is 63 years old. Oh, I am not a child actually. I'm 26. There's an unusual smell from my rarely-used 2nd floor guest toilet, and after ruling out everything like an unclean toilet and clogged drain, the last thing I can think of is the VENT PIPE which I virtually have no access to (I have a VERY VERY HIGH ROOF!). I have a bathtub that wont drain. Its on the first floor slab foundation. I have plundered, snaked and poured sulfuric acid down the drain. After a shower it takes about 5 hours to drain and its getting worse. Water pools immediately. The house was built in 1952. I snaked down the drain, it would only go about a 8 inches. Ok I have bad tub clog! Details.... *it's and old claw foot tub, *old house, *I tried some chemicals *I tried the plunger, *I tried the plumbers snake. I took off the overflow pipe where it meets the main drain hole in the tub. I now have a 3 or 4 inch pipe that sticks out of the floor. The snake will only go about 2 feet down then it gets stuck. Spinning the snake brings up nothing. Heres the question(s) Is this just a bend in the pipe that the snake wont do? Would it work to just get some tubing and pump the water out of the pipe all the way to the clog and pour some heavy duty cleaner down there? I figure if the clog is deep enough maybee the chemical didnt work because all of the still water in the pipe is diluting it?? Is this a lost cause or can someone give the piece of the puzzle im missing? I really dont want to call the plumber. Ok so the shop said that it's the master cylinder. In all honesty I feel like they are trying to cheat me, because the owner before me(my old auto shop teacher) put a new master cylinder in 6 months ago. I have been told it could also be the proportioning valve. Details: At first the front driver side(left) brake locked up and I drained some pressure at the connection point to the master cylinder and some fluid came out and i tightened it back up. The brakes went back to normal then I lost my front brakes completely after about 30 minutes of driving. I figured it was air in the lines so I bled the brakes. The rear brakes bled fine and i got some air out of them but when i went to the front nothing at all came out and my gf who was helping said that the brake pedal wasn't going to the floor like it did before on the rear brakes. I kept trying and nothing worked. I took the bleeder valve completely out of the front left to make sure it wasn't clogged and still nothing. Then I checked the other side. Still nothing Then I went to the master cylinder and loosened the line for the front left to the master cylinder and nothing came out. Please Help Me and didnt post answer like. Are you sure you bled them right? or Maybe you have air in the lines? I need a good mechanical opinion. I love Yahoo Answer!!!!! Here is the story: The shower (stall type) was draining very very very slowly. This seemed to happen suddenly (wife took a shower the night before with no problem...i took a shower the next morning and the basin started filling with water immediately. We went to work and when we came home the shower had drained. I poured a bunch drano gel down the shower drain and let it sit for about an hour. When i went back in there i turned the shower on and the water just backed up like it had that morning. Meanwhile, the wife went #1 in the adjacent toilet and it flushed fine. After she had flushed I decided to try to plunge the shower drain. I plunged it a couple times in about 1" deep water. Then I stopped. I started hearing a sound coming from the toilet. I look over and water is on the floor around the toilet. So I go mop that up and then I flush the toilet. Well, it begins to overflow...it is apparently clogged as well just minutes after the wife just flushed with no problems after going #1. So, my first question...did I clog the toilet by plunging the shower? So now I start trying to plunge the toilet and that isn't working but more water is appearing on the floor around the toilet. I don't see anything happening in the shower where there is still standing water. At this point I get frustrated and decided to come back to it tomorrow. So now it is tomorrow. I took the cover off the shower drain and ran a coat hanger down until it stopped (about 18"), twisted it around, and pulled it out without any kind of hairball. It also felt like I was hitting something plastic and not any kind of hairball or soap. Also, I've put almost a whole container of drano max gel down the shower, waited an hour, then ran the shower. It just backed up like yesterday. I go over to the toilet, pull the tank drain up to let some more water into the bowl and then get to plunging. The water starts appearing on the floor again. Turns out the water is coming up through the bolt holes that secure the toilet to the floor! Now, I have no idea what to do. When I plunge the water comes up through the bolt holes and the drano doesn't do any good. I think I'll pour a bunch of bleach down the shower drain tonight and then pour a bunch of really hot water (not just turn the shower on b/c the water comes out cold initially) down the drain to chase the bleach. One note: my plumbing is all encased in concrete, they pour the slab after they put the piping in. Any help would be awesome. I have a dual sink with an Emerson E10 disposal under one side. It has a hose/pipe coming out of the back of it near the top and it goes down through the floor (I think it connects to the dishwasher that I haven't used in several years). At the bottom of the unit is a horizontal pipe that connects to the drain pipe under the other side of the sink, above the trap. Here is the problem. The disposal side is clogged and drains very slowly (a couple hours or more for about an inch of water in the sink). The other side of the sink drains fine. The disposal turns on and spins and sounds normal but it doesn't unclog the drainage and I don't run it too long as I'm afraid of overheating the motor. This all started Thanksgiving night (almost a week ago). I had done some dishes and turned on the disposal afterwards like I always do and everything worked great. A few hours later my mother put some eggshells in the disposal and the water backed up with a lot of brown/black sludge (like mud) in it. I've been in the house 9 years and never saw anything like this before. As I was not home she put some Drano into the disposal but it didn't clear up the clog. As I said before, the other side of the sink drains fine and the disposal spins. I really haven't tried anything else, wanted to see what you experts have to say first. THANKS!! I have a 2003 New Beetle GLS hatchback w/ a moonroof... I am in the process of trying to sell the car, but several weeks ago I noticed that there was water on the roof of the car on the drivers side, near the visor... I was hoping it wouldn't happen again, but the other day when I got in the car the floor mat on the drivers side was soaked and there was a lot of condensation on the windows. I want to get this fixed, but I don't really know what the problem might be. I have taken it several places and everyone tells me something different. One said I needed the windshield re-sealed and another said they thought it was the drain tube from the moonroof was clogged. Last year the bottom floor of my house got flooded because the storm drain on our block was clogged with leaves and debris and it rained very hard. I'm scared it will happen again and looked for insurance to cover it. However, national flood insurance does not (I think it has to be from a bodily water not just rainfall), a sewer backup does not cover it, and any other insurance riders that would cover it requires a sump pump which we do not have. I would love to pay a couple of hundred bucks a year to an insurance company for piece of mind that I am covered from property damage and house damage if there is another flood but I can't find such coverage. I have been dealing with severe stress the past month and have noticed that I'm losing more hair. Whenever I'm in the shower, my hair always clogs the drain and when I go to dry my hair, I look at the floor and sink and its covered with hair...and even outside the shower, I shed more hair then my cocker spaniel! I know stress plays a key role in this. I used to have very thick, soft hair but now it's thinning out...and I'm only 21! brand new goodman gmv furnace 2 stage 80k and 115k was running ok after craigslist install, don't have much money. now though less then a week later it lights up then the flame goes out after 1 to 20 seconds randomly. In trying to figure out what changed I can only say... 1) it rained 2) I closed a vent 3) I messed with thermostat (so stupid!!!) 4) its gotten colder in general 1) I mention rain because I noticed the vent going outside has some water in it looking down it from the outside. it runs through the wall not quite level but with the open end a bit higher so I cannot see how it could avoid recieving some rain water. the installer had the purple glue stuff on the end of it outside like he was going to add a peice to the end maybe to protect it from the rain but I don't know. I did notice when the furnace was running (no flame) water coming out of the chimney thing outside. I should mention there is only one hole in concrete block, they said they were going to try some 'new' venting method thing where they only had to run one pipe. So 2 white pipes come out of the furnace and run to a 'Y' like thing to one pipe going through the wall. I looked down the tube outside and only see one pipe so I'm pretty mystafied about that one. 2) I closed a vent to an unused room. the guy who installed it used 6 inch flex for the vent runs and the furnace was very powerful maybe not enough vents? There are 10 vents all with 6 inch flex duct but 5 are nearly completely closed to force air to the other side of the house. ran ok before though so I don't see how that could be it. 3) I read the white rogers thermostat manual and changed some settings. I think I changed them all back after pulling out the batteries and cutting power to the house but not sure about all settings. I read that some anticipation setting is automatic with digital thermostats so that should be working? The thermo has only 2 wires as wires were not changed during upgrade. ran fine for a week... 4) Its gotten a bit colder out and the duct work the guy did is not too good. the house has a finished and insulated top floor and I'm still using the old, very large, return air duct work. However he put in new, not air tight duct for the hot air. the bottom floor has no rooms or walls or insulation, it is concrete block and thusly cold air from downstairs (where the furnace is) is being sucked into the return air drop he did and especially the filter area which is too big. His duct work also shoots some hot air meant for upstairs out downstairs. when it was around 60 degrees downstairs it ran ok but now that it's colder it's not staying lit. however at the warmest time of day now the temp is the same as when it ran ok and it still will not stay lit so I don't think ductwork or temperature is the prob. So thats all thats changed since it was working right. I know for sure it was running ok before I messed with the thermostat changing settings but not sure thats when it stopped working. As to what I see the furnace starts up, flame lights and then after just a few seconds it goes out. If the doors are screwed on, when the flame goes out there is a very signifigant air pressure change inside the furnace as I can see and hear the door bend and a gush of air. with the door off this is not noticable. Also the red LED flashed 3 times after the flame goes out. It then all restarts light the flame again only to kill it and flash the LED 3 times. Perhaps most telling (I don't know, guessing here) is the flame itself seems maybe not to be shooting hard enough. It's not all in the duct work area but has come back enough that there is a solid line of flame closest to the front of the viewer. I'm guessing the gas is weak and the flame is being detected where it's not sopposed to be and some heat sensor is shutting it down. I tried adjusting 2 screws and 2 hex things that were all next to each other attached to the gas line but they were all already turned all the way up. So thats the situation. I kn ow the drain is not clogged, not sure whats going on with the intake but the flame still goes out with the panels off so maybe that answers that. code mentions pressure switch problem but I don't know how to diagnose or fix. everything is brand spanking new though. Over the summer I purchased a used car through a private sale. Shortly thereafter the a/c poured water on the floor from under the dash on the passenger side. (I assume that was caused by a clogged drain.) But the air is not cold anymore and recently there is a lot of noise (rattling) from the dash/vent area when running either the heater or the a/c. What is causing the problems? What is a reasonable price range for the repair? I bought my car used and it has started leaking in water on the passenger side when it rains really hard. The mechanics don't know what the cause is but through my online-investigation, I think it might be a clogged heater box or a clogged tube used to drain the condensation from the A/C. I haven't used either the heat or A/C much but I did buy the car used and 3 months after I bought it, the first puddle collected in my passenger side floor. My actual question is how would I clean out the heater box and how to clear the condensation tube. If you answer, you will need to be very descriptive. I am an Architectural drafter, I could tell you how to build a house, but not anything about a car. Thanks for your help. I hate paying people to do something that I could easily do myself. Cheers. We have a drain in our basement floor that is clogged. I'm planning to snake it but I'm wondering if I should also/instead try a chemical first? I have no idea what the drain is clogged by....what the pipe is made of....where it goes. There's no way to get under it. Roots are a possibility. It hasn't been used since I moved in 20 years ago.
