Resolved Question: Do you believe all illegal immigrants are Mexican?

So I've been looking for some information about illegal immigrants, and every post has people bashing illegal law-breaking trouble making (and not so trouble making) mexicans. Does it occur to any of you that not all immigrants, legal or not, are from Mexico? How do you feel about those who arent? Have you considered the reason for an immigrant to be illegal? Would you become illegal if you were in some of the situations they are? If not, what would you do instead then? To those with little intelligence to their answers... Do you have Anything decent/intelligent/nice to say that might help immigrants? Just to note: Am I an illegal immigrant? Yes. Is it anyone of your (Strangers) business as to why? No. Am I from Mexico, UK, Chile, Asia, India? No. Do I suck money from USA? No. Do I take jobs from Americans? No. Do I take medicines or medical services from Americans? Not so far, not intentionally, so no. Do I want to be illegal? ..NO. Can I become legal? ..no. Can I go 'back'? No. Anything else, msg me, but dont assume to judge me or my situation. This question is here because I'm curious if anyone honestly realises that immigrants arent always from Mexico. Karly's Momma - Thank you. I'm from New Zealand. Red Feather - I stand by everything I said. Note: I dont take any money off any Americans, nor jobs. I dont work, so you can have that one extra Sonic or McD's job. I pay taxes, cause Illegal Immigrants cant.. So there's some money back that I apparently steal, lol. I'm a housewife, and my husband works hard in a well-paying job. So, I dont need to use any government funds. I put into the country Alot more then I take from it. My husband is and has always been very welcoming, by the way.. Mostly considering he knows the situation and realises there's no other way. As I said, what would you do faced with some of the situations that illegal immigrants are put in? Die? Nope. Its human nature to fight to live, therefore you would fight.. and if fighting meant staying somewhere you shouldnt be until a time you are accepted, then you would do it. Again, that is just a 'worst case scenario' and likely not my own situation. Apologies: "I pay taxes, cause Illegal Immigrants cant." Edit: Cant = can.  more

Resolved Question: Did these International Crooks ( Presidential advisers) sold the USA to Corporations just to rule the world?

1). Colin Powell-----Secretary of State, ex-chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, of Jamaican origin, he has one Jewish ancestor on his father's side. He grew up in a heavily Jewish-populated neighborhood in New York, and speaks Yiddish. The first day of being picked (12/16) he said he wanted to toughen sanctions on Iraq, and will work to "re-energize the sanctions regime." 2). Richard Perle----One of Bush's Foreign Policy Advisors. He is chairman of the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board. He had worked as Bush's Jewish national security campaign advisor. A very likely Israeli agent, Perle was expelled from Senator Henry Jackson's office in the 1970's after the National Security Agency (NSA) caught him passing Highly-Classified (National Security) documents to the Israeli Embassy. He later worked for the Israeli weapons firm, Soltam. 3). Paul Wolfowitz----Deputy Defense Secretary, Bush's Jewish foreign policy campaign advisor, close associate of Israeli agent Richard Perle, and reportedly has close ties to the Israeli military. 4). Robert Satloff----U.S. National Security Council Advisor, Satloff was the executive director of the Israeli lobby's "think tank," Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Many of the Israeli lobby's "experts" come from this front group, like Martin Indyk. 5). Dov Zekheim----Under Secretary of Defense and Comptroller. He was Bush's Jewish foreign policy advisor and reportedly holds Israeli citizenship. 6). Douglas Feith----Under Secretary of Defense and Policy Advisor at the Pentagon. He is a close associate of Perle and served as his Special Counsel. Like Perle and the others, Feith is a pro-Israel extremist, who has advocated anti-Arab policies in the past. He is closely associated with the extremist group, the Zionist Organization of America, which even attacks Jews that don't agree with its extremist views. Feith frequently speaks at ZOA conferences. Feith runs a small law firm, Feith and Zell, which only has one International office, in Israel. The majority of their legal work is representing Israeli interests. His firm's own website stated, prior to his appointment, that Feith "represents Israeli Armaments Manufacturer." Feith basically represents the Israeli War Machine. 7). Elliott Abrams-----National Security Council Advisor. He previously worked at Washington-based "Think Tank" Ethics and Public Policy Center. During the Reagan Adminstration, Abrams was the Assistant Secretary of State, handling, for the most part, Latin American affairs. He played an important role in the Iran-Contra Scandal, which involved illegally selling U.S. weapons to Iran to fight Iraq, and illegally funding the contra rebels fighting to overthrow Nicaragua's Sandinista government. He also actively deceived three congressional committees about his involvement and thereby faced felony charges based on his testimony. Abrams pled guilty in 1991 to two misdemeanors and was sentenced to a year's probation and 100 hours of community service. A year later, former President Bush (Senior) granted Abrams a full pardon. He was one of the more hawkish pro-Israel Jews in the Reagan Administration's State Department. 8). Marc Grossman-----Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs. He was Director General of the Foreign Service and Director of Human Resources at the Department of State. Grossman is one of many of the Jewish officials from the Clinton Administration that Bush has promoted to higher posts. 9). Richard Haass-----Director of Policy Planning at the State Department and Ambassador at large. He is also Director of National Security Programs and Senior Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR). He was one of the more hawkish pro-Israel Jews in the first Bush (Sr) Administration who sat on the National Security Council, and who consistently advocates bombing Iraq. 10). Henry Kissinger-----One of many Pentagon Advisors, Kissinger sits on the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board. For detailed information about Kissinger's evil past, read Seymour Hersch's book. Kissinger had a part in the Watergate crimes, Southeast Asia mass murders, Chile dictatorship, and more recently served as Serbian Dictator Slobodan Milosevic's Advisor. He consistently advocates bombing Iraq. Kissinger is the Ariel Sharon of the U.S. 11). James Schlesinger-----One of many Pentagon Advisors, Schlesinger also sits on the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board and is another extremist pro-Israel advisor. He consistently advocates bombing Iraq. 12). Robert Zoellick-----U.S. Trade Representative, a cabinet-level position. He is also one of the more hawkish pro-Israel Jews in the Bush (Jr) Administration who advocated invading Iraq and occupying a portion of the country in order to set up setting up a Vichy-style puppet government. He consistently advocates bombing Iraq. 13). Mel Sembler-----President of the Export-Import Bank of the United States. Resolved Question: Latin America Armed Forces. ?

So, 2007 latest ranking on Latin America Forces was: 1) Brazil 2) Peru 3) Chile 4) Argentina 5) Ecuador 6) Venezuela 7) Mexico 8) Colombia, Bolivia, Paraguay, and all the rest of Central American Countries. Info: South Do America, Brasil Military Ranking 2008, was a new year and some countries bought quite a lot. 2008 Ranking in Latin America is: 1) Brasil 2) Peru - Chile 3) Venezuela 4) Argentina 5) Ecuador 6) All the rest remains the same since there has been not a lot of investments. Cuba does not count, due to the lack of information from that country on their weapons. Brasil, remains on the top due to their quantity; yet not their upgraded system on Air force. In fact, they are lacking newly offensive system. Chile has managed to almost misplaced Peru from 2do position, due to its recently new top buying of Leopard 2A4, and version 1. Also their recently F-16's MLU. Peru on the other hand has recently incorporated the Tunguska-M1 and the upgrades of their Mig's 29S-SE-UB. Venezuela on the other hand has bought Sukhoi Su-30MK2, Lockheed F-16 Fighting Falcon, and T-90. They have recently used China to deploy a Satellite, yet so far its known for only Telecommunication purposes. Other countries have not purchased any newly top weapons. Venezuela wishes to buy new Leopard 2, and the more recently the Mig's-35. Although seems that their budget due to decrease on the demand of oil has brought them back to a smaller budget. Chile needs to upgrade their recently acquired F-16's due to tail problems recently discover by U.S Air Force on all there F-16's. They are also trying to buy a Satellite to be used as a defense mechanism against any trespassing to their territory. For now, their military tight budget seems that they will rent an Israel Satellite. Peru, with a very tight budget. Seems to be also thinking on buying or producing a Satellite for the same purpose the Chileans would like theirs. Although its more likely they will buy Satellites from China, like Venezuela did. They have also put their eyes on the new Sukhoi Su-35, but its a little way to off their budget. Argentina, has remained with FMA IA 58 Pucara and most likely to continue due to their un-explained military budget. My question is, why would third world countries wish to armed themselves? Venezuela obviously been a Socialist country, but Chile and Peru?  more

Resolved Question: Are these countries safe for traveling?

I am a Canadian, and I am wanting to do some traveling overseas. However, I am very confused as to which countries are and aren't safe to travel in. I am white, if that makes a difference. I have dual Canadian/British citizenship (I was born in Britain). Therefore, I can go anywhere in the EU without a visa. I speak fluent English and French, quite a lot of Spanish, and a bit of Portuguese and Italian. The countries I would be interested in visiting are: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, USA (briefly, I have been there and I know it is quite safe), Czech Republic, France, Spain, Monaco, Italy, Greece, United Arab Emirates, Kenya, South Africa, India, China, Japan, South Korea, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand. Even if you only know safety information about one or two countries, any help is appreciated! Thanks so much!  more

Resolved Question: Anyone have any info on Santiago, Chile?

Hello, I am interested in finding someone that either lives in Santiago, or who has spent some time there, to answer questions, and provide information. I am planning a trip there next July (to include skiing). I am most interested in finding a reputable place to stay for at least one week, perhaps two. Such as a condo or flat rental. With a location central to the downtown area (shopping, eating, nightlife). I have found a couple websites that have vacation rentals, but they provide little in the way of information such as specific websites and street locations. Either post any links or suggestions here, or if you like, email me (or IM) at: utahpowhound@hotmail.com Thanks so much in advance, John ps: I live in the US.  more

Resolved Question: Professional military responses in history to breakdown of democracy in their homelands?

Some top generals in Hitler’s staff operated against him (recent movie with Tom Cruise). A radical Trotskyist cell in the German Navy passed out anti-government leaflets and did some sabotage and espionage. Some minority ethnic folks in the German military (Jews and Slavs who were WW1 vets) also resisted the Nazis. But the multi-million member Catholic, socialist, communist, and constitutional conservative parties did nothing. In post-revolutionary Russia, whether you like the communists or not, it can’t be argued that the early soviets (non-party workers councils) were raucous places where different factions argued, voted and in general raised hell. But once factions were banned in the councils, any possible communist version of a democracy died. There were actual mutinies from red army vets. The communist party itself wasn’t completely united under Stalin’s bureaucratic rule yet, so there were still groups that could have fought him even inside his own party. These multi-million supporter groups did nothing. US Marine Corps General Smedley Butler broke up a rightist coup attempt against Franklin Roosevelt in the 1930s. He even ran his own intelligence ops, such as pretending to consider an offer from the plotters as a possible figurehead leader for their movement. He gathered all the information that he could and tried to report it to his superiors. They did nothing. General Butler went public and caused a sensation. The only civilian response was that General Butler was then tied down testifying in long, ineffective congressional hearings. Attempts were made to discredit him and destroy his reputation. The congressional panel reluctantly announced that (my interpretation) "there might be something to these here plot charges but it’s all over now, so let’s drop it." A report was released. No one was punished. General Rene Schneider said that he would not overthrow his president in Chile because "the son of a bitch was legally elected and I swore an oath to my country’s constitution." Those pushing for a coup (the infamous Pinochet) had to blow General Schneider up in his car before they could do so. Is there a common thread here? Is it a mistake to assume that the military is always and everywhere a right-wing force? And how do differences in opinion between the ranks and the brass figure into it?  more

Resolved Question: What do you think about my story?

(this is only the 1st section of the story) The automatic doors suctioned shut and locked. We were the last ones in and it was almost 2:30am. We were late. “Come on, Chase!” called my younger sister Olive who had run ahead. We closed in on the auditorium and Olive peeked through the door. It was full and the Mason had already started his speech. I tugged at her hand, “This way.” And off we ran down the corridor. We were racing so fast all the bulletin boards that usually announced huge events and trips and whatnot were a blur. But then a red sign with big bold letters caught my eye and caused me to stop, which meant Olive stopped too. “What?” she asked annoyed. “One sec!” I yelled back at her. “Shhhh!” she whispered. I rolled my eyes and turned back to my interest in the sign. It read: Mission Trip: Northern Canada It had a bunch of information underneath and a pocket of permission forms. “Oh, great, Chase. You know you’re never going to get another mission again.” This time she rolled her eyes. I glared at her. “I can so go!” I continued reading the sign. “Not after what happened in Chile.” She smirked. I took out a flyer. “CHASE!” she yelled. I mimicked her shushing me before and stuffed the flyer in my pocket and we were off again. “Where are we going?” she asked once we had stopped and were sneaking down one of the ‘forbidden’ hallways, really only forbidden to students, but since Chase knew about it, it wasn’t. “Hey, if you really want to go on that mission trip, we should go the right way!” she whisper-yelled. “Well if you really want to hear the Mason’s speech then listen to me and be quiet you little pig!” I whispered back. I peeked through one of the windows that went to the auditorium. He was still making his speech so we had time to get in. “Up the stairs.” I ordered. She went up without arguing. I smiled to myself and started to climb. When we got to the landing, I opened a heavy gray door and we were in the auditorium. It was dim and there were thousands of vintage red leather covered seats. They were all full except for two, which were Olive’s and mine. The stage was made of glossy wood with new bright red curtains. The Mason was standing at a dark wood podium and the three Assistants were sitting on the same leather seats but it was actually a couch. I looked up and saw a huge chandelier that must have weighed the same as an elephant and instead of light bulbs; it was studded with little candles that were all lit. I stared at one for a few seconds and it went out, but lighted itself again. I frowned with impression. I looked to the wall, which was actually made of cream marble and there was an iron ladder which ended at the first floor at the spot which happened to be at the exact same spot as where our seats were. “Let’s go.” I said, monotone and started to climb down. Olive nodded and walked over. When I got to the bottom I finally took a breath. Olive stopped at the fifth to last step and quietly jumped down, also taking a big breath when she landed. We quietly took our seats and reached into the cup holders and pulled out the new and improved ‘watches’. They also happened to contain the world map, the schedule for the day, current coordinates (family members and other members of the mission’s coordinates), and much more. “These are cool.” said Olive quietly admiring the new version of the sleek black watch. “Shhhh!” I glared. We finally turned our attention to the Mason’s speech. “And our official captain’s of this new year are…Mindy Charlstine and Chase Bailey. Chase gapped at the announcement, hearing his name called for captain, even after what happened in Chile! “Wow!” said Olive looking over at Chase. The audience was applauding and the Mason motioned for them to come on stage. Of course, immediately, Mindy climbed the elegant iron carved staircase up to the stage and Chase shuffled down the side of auditorium still unbelieving. Mindy started tapping her food, impatient and just for her, Chase took as much time as he needed to climb the stairs just as gracefully as she did. “Thank you both for your great, responsible deeds from last year. Please accept your captain positions.” He shook their hands, and Chase could have sworn the Mason was looking directly at him when he said ‘great, responsible deeds’. Two of the assistants (former captains) removed their captain hats and pins and placed them on the new captains. The audience applauded again. They were then told to sit on the Assistant’s couch.  more

I was wondering if anyone had advice on what they think would be a good choice. I want to be able to have travel adventures, learn Spanish, and meet wonderful, kind people. I would like to do some extreme outdoor activities and learn a lot about the culture. Both of these places have a lot to offer, but I am so indecisive that I am having a hard time choosing.
